I celebrate living a life that is more than I can handle.
I celebrate raising children who need more than I can give.
I celebrate accepting a calling that is impossible for me to accomplish.
I celebrate being overwhelmed and not enough and dropping the ball.
If life is always comfortable and easy, then why do I need God? If life goes how I expect, then why would I ever turn to God? When life gets to be too much, I remember I’m not in control. I don’t have authority over events.
David knew this God too…
then up ahead and you’re there, too—
your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful—
I can’t take it all in!
There is a big God, ready to hem me in when life gets overwhelming. So I celebrate having the courage to breathe and relax and trust in the truth that God is good and will work things for the good of those who love him.

Ruth, thank you for posting early. For once I am on time. This is a relief. Life is too much sometimes but we have to rely on faith to work out the kinks or enjoy the successes.
Ruth, Thank you for sharing your struggle and your faith and celebrations here! I'm so grateful for our big God! Letting go of control…that's what is always hard for me. That's a lesson I need to learn time & time again. I'm saying a prayer for you this morning.
It's good to hear you're thinking through the challenges, finding the courage to trust, Ruth. Have a good, good weekend!
I also celebrate 'our big God' today, every day. He goes before us and is inside us when our heart is breaking and when we are filled with joy. I am definitely not big enough for my life either. I need to find the 'courage to trust' moment by moment. xo
Love the image that you provided of God hemming us in…that reassuring presence always there. Thanks for showing us the possibilities for celebrating even when life is too much. Blessings and prayers for you and your family.
I too have need for a big God – thanks for this reminder
Ruth, thank you for sharing your wisdom in celebrations and vintage slices. I am sorry I missed the #celebratelu on Saturday. I appreciate you!
