I’m glad you are here to celebrate! For more information, check out the CELEBRATE This Week page. Please use #clebratelu to share.

One.
The post by Franki Sibberson about the importance of  “streaks to change habits” is something I keep rereading. I promise reading this post will inspire you to make a small commitment to something that will make you happy.

Two.
Along this line, the #nerdlution community is a big reason to celebrate! I love (lovelovelove) knowing there are other people out there working to make small changes. They celebrate and encourage and empower you to be a better version of yourself.

Three.
This line from my current read: “Dreams are a sign that you’re gloriously, beautifully awake to life.”

Four.
At NCTE I had a conversation with Stenhouse about Celebrating Writers and our new community on Saturdays. Here’s the video and a special thanks to the Stenhouse family for always believing in me more than I believe in myself.

Five.
I ran on Thursday afternoon. It’s been several weeks since I’ve been able to run because a cold settled in my chest. (Andy has rescued me three times when I thought I should be able to run and instead broke out in a coughing spell a mile away from home.) There is something about exercising hard that makes a difference. My 1.5 mile run followed by a 1.5 mile walk melted the stress from my shoulders, the annoyance in my heart, and centered me. I’m celebrating sore legs and the reminder that moving is good for the soul.

  1. I'm going to celebrate watching the video and share the link with the teachers in the buildings where I work…I think remembering to celebrate the tiny steps improves the quality of the learning journey…

  2. I watched your video yesterday Ruth, and loved hearing you talk, seemed as if you were right here with me! So glad you shared it here too, and happy you can be back to running, sounds like a very good thing!

  3. So glad to read that you are feeling well enough to be running again. It's been a good week. I know that video will be having an effect on all who watch it.

  4. You are motivating me to get back out there and start running again. It has been on my mind. I've been taking a break since my last race, but it's time. I love winter running.

  5. Ruth, I find that Celebration Saturdays is helping me focus on all the good things going on in my life. Throughout the week, I'll say to myself, “There's something for Saturday's blog.” Thanks so much!!

  6. Wonderful, wonderful video. You are so relaxed and real. This should be a learning video sent to writer workshop teachers who need to celebrate what they are doing! Yes, celebrations pauses us, they change us and encourage us–I know from experience! Oh, to have someone/place to celebrate with is key. BONS!!!! Much to celebrate, my friend!
