CELEBRATE This Week VII

Discover. Play. Build.

Discover. Play. Build.

I’m glad you are here to celebrate! For more information, check out the CELEBRATE This Week page.

Here’s my quick little list:

One.
While trying to organize my thoughts and learning from NCTE, I made a list of people at the conference who impacted my thinking. There were over 30 names on the list and people from 18 different states. I love that I’m connected to a diverse group of professionals who help me see what’s possible when it comes to helping kids become stronger readers and writers. I’ll be sharing my learning this week.
Two.
It’s rolling into my favorite season of the year. More white lights are always a good idea.
Three.
I’m thankful for the extra time to catch up. Andy and I have been hit hard with a nasty bug and I’m grateful to be on the upswing. This is the reason for the sparse blogging. (I’m even more grateful that the kids have been resilient.)

  1. Sorry you've been 'under the weather'. Sometimes, after a big thing like NCTE, when one lets down, zap the viruses move in! Hope it's over soon! Thanks for doing this celebrating, Ruth-amazing those connections!

  2. I love the idea of listing the people who impacted your thinking! That must be a powerful list….hmmm, maybe I should make that list. Prayers for a quick recovery for everyone at your home. It's a tough time to be sick. Thanks for this practice in my life. I look forward to these celebrations!

  3. Ruth,
Sorry to hear you and Andy have been under the weather. I am so excited to participate in the weekly celebrations. Have a great week and I am looking forward to reading more about how you've been impacted by all the wonders at NCTE.

  4. Looking forward to reading your thoughts and learning from NCTE. Thanks for creating these celebrations. We have started this in our teacher bible study group…you continue to spread celebrations in so many places!

  5. Thanks so much for hosting these Saturday celebrations. I am grateful for your gentle wisdom and the way you bring all of us together online! Hope you and Andy get some time to take it easy and recuperate!

  6. I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't been able to process enough of NCTE and ALAN to finish a post. (I have started one but I keep getting interrupted…) I hope that you're feeling better soon!
I just noticed your “Peek Into My Notebook” gallery on the side of your page here. SO COOL! I know mine is not nearly so pretty, but could I swipe the idea?

  7. Ruth, thank you for hosting as always. I did the same about the writing retreat las Tuesday for Slice of Life. I love your number two. We are marching toward the days starting to get longer after being in the dark. I hope you feel better.

  8. I knew something was wrong because you were unusually silent. I hope things are better for you and Andy and the germs do not hit the kids. You touch so many lives with your words. Stay well and celebrate the season!

  9. Glad you are conquering the bug! I agree that there can't be enough white lights, like little bits of sun that sparkle in our life. Can't wait to hear more about NCTE. I heard it was great.

  10. Hope you are feeling better soon. It took me over a week to really get over by little bug. In case I haven't mentioned it recently, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this community that celebrates what's good in both our personal and professional lives. Thank you for thinking to create a place where celebrations occur on a regular basis!!

  11. I'm so glad we got to hang out more at NCTE this time! It was a fun adventure. I was so thankful for having Thanksgiving after NCTE. I'm always just so exhausted! Hope you feel all better soon!
