I debated whether to link celebrations during these holiday weekends, but I decided we must claim celebrations on the ordinary days and the holidays. I hope you carve out a few moments to document your celebrations.Happy New Year!

Since 2006 I’ve selected a word to live by for the year. Last year I chronicled my decade of One Little Words with this little video.
Today I say hello to a new little word. I remind myself that it’s not about letting go of unhurried, a word that I will forever be grateful to — it saved me from the rat race of life — rather, I’m inviting something new into my life.
Unhurried was a game-changer for me. I quit rushing and began to savor. I learned to do my best and let God do the rest. I learned about rest, too. Unhurried, more than any other word altered the course I was on. I kind of feel sorry for the word that has to follow it.
I’ve been making lists of words for the last six weeks, waiting for one to find me. I thought one did until another word lassoed me this morning.
Treasure. I like that it’s both a noun and a verb. Since it just caught me today, I don’t have much more to say about it. I’m sure I’m in for a treat.
I love living with intention around a single word. I can’t wait for the celebrations to treasure this year. Thanks for celebrating alongside of me each week.

YOU are a treasure and I think this word will bring so much to your life! I can't wait to find out.
What a great word…treasure! LOVE this!!! For my 2014 and my 2015 words, I had the same experience…a word picking me at the last moment. Exciting! Can't wait to see what 2016 brings!
I like the word treasure and that it's a noun and a verb! I almost chose savor because that's what I truly want to do. But revel burst into my head and refused to be let go, it's a little bit of unhurrying mixed with treasure in a celebratory kind of way. Happy 2016, dear Ruth! xoxo
Looking for 'treasure' all the year seems like a lovely way to live, Ruth. Happy New Year!
Great word, Ruth!!
(I ended up linking up twice – I forgot to do my ONE LITTLE WORD post in the original one. So…there are two. Oops.)
Treasure is a great word to follow Unhurried. My OLW is settling in. I think I'll write about it soon. I want to see if it fits before I let it out into the world. I love this practice of finding a single word to guide your year. Thanks for providing this space for us to “treasure” our lives and connect to each other.
Thank you for sharing your new word! I love it! I'm still thinking about mine. I hope I have one before Tuesday's Slice of Life link up. I'd like to write about it then. Here's to lots of treasures/treasuring in 2016!
One of my blogging goals is to participate regularly in this post and community. Thank you Ruth for hosting. You are a treasure to many. 🙂
I loved sharing your OLW journey, Ruth! Here's to a year's worth of new treasures…
I am so pleased you connected us all through the holidays. I do treasure this community. So much.
Ruth, thank you for your journey of OLWs. Thinking about how each word has developed and lived with you is a window to your growth. Such a beautiful reflection and model.
Thank you for your Celebrations–such a treasure. I, too, was captured by a word that functions as more than one part of speech. For you, something to be and something to do. For me, deliberate—I need to deliberate, and I need to be more deliberate in my actions. One word. Such power. Such crossover to all areas of life. May you treasure all your treasures. And may you find treasures everywhere, even in the struggles.
I like your OLW – this year and last year's.
I keep going back and forth about choosing one. I don't seem to do a good job thinking about it throughout the year. Hmmmmm…..
This reminded me that I had the intention of picking out a word this year. I will have to think about it. I love that Treasure has both the noun and the verb. There are so many ways that word could work its way into your life. I look forward to seeing your reflections about living with that word.
Love your OLW for 2016! Thank you so much for sharing your journey. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have learned about the OLW movement.
I love your word for 2016. I am still considering my word.
Great word for this new year! We are so lucky to be a part of this treasured community each week. You rock, my friend!
Happy New Year! Treasure is a beautiful word – full of possibility. Last year I chose Look! which was very fun. I'm thinking of Yes for this year.
Ruth, your post this week is a timely one. If you are free, can you join #NYEDChat's conversation tonight: New Year, New Directions? We are talking about one words to impact our journeys. Treasure is a powerful world for you. Your family is your first treasure so I am looking forward to how treasure fits into your life. I am late with my post but I had a good deal to celebrate this weekend.
