I’m celebrating because…

I texted a handful of friends when Andy was caught in a garage (waiting for a tire) and couldn’t get back to pick up the kids in time. They took care of picking up the kids and bringing them home to us.

I owned some feelings I’ve been avoiding by sending another handful of friends an email in which I was able to face my feelings and then move past them.

I have funny, smart, kind, helpful, friends.

We ate a lasagna dinner off of heart plates with my parents for Valentine’s Day.

The girls each invited best friends to sleep over. They sat at the big, formal, fancy dining room table and pretended they were princesses. Sam served them.

“It was a pleasure to serve you,” he said with a bow.

I started a new book/study about prayer. A friend gave it to me when I visited her house. I wake up with energy to open the book each morning.

I’m leading a training on Saturday morning for youth workers. It’s all about how to engage with text, read for understanding, and have effective conversations. I’m so excited to use my professional knowledge to encourage others in the Church.

I put a little paint on canvas this week.

I have time to catch up the laundry this weekend.

And, of course, I’m celebrating because YOU are here to celebrate too!

  1. I love that you see the power in celebrating catching up on laundry! Isn't it the greatest feeling when you can say the last load is in the dryer! It really is these small moments!

  2. Really enJOYed reading your celebrations.

May I ask the title of your new book about prayer?

My favorites…When Mothers Pray by Cheri Fuller…Every Child Needs a Praying Mom by Fern Nichols…Prayer Starters by Tracy Klehn…

Ten years ago becoming a part of Moms In Touch was life-changing for my prayer life…

    God is so good.

  3. Whispers of Hope: 10 Weeks of Devotional Prayer by Beth Moore

It's an interactive text, with space to record your prayer each day. I'm only on Day 4 and it has already altered my prayer life.

  4. Deb–
I'd forgotten there can be a moment of a last load in the dryer. We are at a super scary point in life where, as a family, we produce more than a load of dirty laundry each day (and my washer is ginormous!). I think today I'll simply shoot for not being swallowed whole by the dirty laundry piles! LOL!

  5. Loving your celebrations too!! I would also love to know about that book on prayer. One of my recent favorites has been Anne Lamott's book: Help! Thanks! Wow! Thanks for sharing and giving us the space to celebrate!!

  6. I love Beth Moore and will have to check out this book. I love the picture of “server Sam.” My kids used to do that when we would play cards. Brings back special memories!

  7. A wonderful and rich list of celebrations! I, too, love the image of your son serving princesses with a bow. Also the heart shaped plates and the love around the table. Thanks!
